Wassererhof Winery
At Wassererhof Winery, the philosophy is to courageously follow their own path. The goal is to create wines that leave a lasting impression. The family manage two exceptional vineyards, producing both outstanding red and white wines. The name “Wassererhof” dates back to 1366 when the Lords of Lichtenstein built the “Hof zu Wasser” near a fertile spring. The Mock family acquired the neglected estate in 1996 and lovingly renovated it in 2001, with the help of local architect Sylvia Hafner Polzhofer.

Production Area's
The Wassererhof estate is uniquely split into two distinct production areas, each with its own exceptional profile, despite being less than 10 kilometers apart.

Mumelterhof Vineyard
Located in Leitach within the St. Magdalena IGP, the Mumelterhof vineyard is renowned for producing high-quality red wines, specifically Vernatsch (Schiava) and Lagrein, both of which are essential in the celebrated St. Magdalena wine. Positioned at an altitude of 300 meters and facing due south, this vineyard benefits from a warm climate, ideal for cultivating red grape varieties. The warmth and ample sunlight in this area enable the production of Wassererhof’s robust and flavorful red wines.

Wassererhof Vineyard
In contrast, the second vineyard is situated around the Wassererhof estate itself, in the municipality of Völs am Schlern at the entrance of the Eisack Valley. This area is globally acclaimed for its white wine production. The vineyard sits at an altitude of 450 meters, facing West, which results in a significantly cooler climate with regular winds. These conditions are perfect for growing white grape varieties, as they provide cooler daytime temperatures and chilly nights, essential for the development of aromatic and crisp white wines. This area is where Wassererhof cultivates its esteemed white grape varieties, including Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Blanc. The distinct climatic and geographical conditions of these two vineyards allow Wassererhof Winery to produce a diverse range of high-quality wines, each reflecting the unique terroir of South Tyrol.
